Work out double-declining depreciation
=DDB(B1,B2,B3,1)How it works in Excel
- B1 is the cost.
- B2 is the value at the end.
- B3 is the useful life in years.
- 1 is the year you want.
- Change the last number to see other years.
- It never takes the asset below its end value.
The idea in general
Assets often lose value fastest when new, so this charges more in the early years.
What I assumed
- The cost is in B1, the end value is in B2 and the life is in B3.
