Calculate a portfolio's return
=SUMPRODUCT(A2:A4,B2:B4)How it works in Excel
- A2:A4 are the weights of each holding.
- B2:B4 are their returns.
- The weights should add up to 100%.
- Format the cell as a percentage.
The idea in general
Each holding counts in proportion to how much of your money is in it.
What I assumed
- The weights are in A2:A4 and the returns are in B2:B4.
Check the result on your own data before relying on it.
