Find what a future amount is worth today
=B1/(1+B2)^B3How it works in Excel
- B1 is the future amount.
- B2 is the yearly rate.
- B3 is the number of years.
- For a stream of equal payments, use PV.
- For uneven payments, use NPV.
The idea in general
Money later is worth less than money now, because money now could be earning a return.
What I assumed
- The future amount is in B1, the rate is in B2 and the years are in B3.
Check the result on your own data before relying on it.
