Find the units needed for a target profit
=(B1+B2)/(B3-B4)How it works in Excel
- B1 is fixed costs.
- B2 is the profit you want.
- B3-B4 is what each unit adds after its own cost.
- With B2 set to 0, this is the break-even point.
- Round up to whole units.
The idea in general
Each unit chips away at fixed costs first, and then builds toward your target.
What I assumed
- Fixed costs are in B1, the target is in B2, the price is in B3 and the unit cost is in B4.
Check the result on your own data before relying on it.
