Find the return when cash flows have exact dates
=XIRR(C2:C4,A2:A4)How it works in Excel
- C2:C4 are the cash flows.
- A2:A4 are their dates.
- You need at least one negative and one positive cash flow.
- The result is a yearly rate.
- Format the cell as a percentage.
The idea in general
It is the steady yearly growth rate that would match what really happened, on the real dates.
What I assumed
- The dates are in A2:A4 and the cash flows are in C2:C4.
Check the result on your own data before relying on it.
