Find NPV when cash flows have exact dates
=XNPV(B1,C2:C4,A2:A4)How it works in Excel
- B1 is the yearly discount rate.
- C2:C4 are the cash flows.
- A2:A4 are their dates.
- The first cash flow is treated as today, so it is not discounted.
- Unlike NPV, the first flow goes inside the function.
The idea in general
Money arriving later is worth less, and this uses the exact wait for each payment.
What I assumed
- The rate is in B1, the dates are in A2:A4 and the cash flows are in C2:C4.
Check the result on your own data before relying on it.
