Find a margin of error
=CONFIDENCE.NORM(0.05,B1,B2)How it works in Excel
- 0.05 means 95% confidence.
- B1 is the standard deviation.
- B2 is the sample size.
- Add and subtract the result from your average to get the range.
- For small samples, CONFIDENCE.T is better.
The idea in general
A sample only gives an estimate, and this says how far off it might be.
What I assumed
- The standard deviation is in B1 and the sample size is in B2.
Check the result on your own data before relying on it.
