Paste values without the formula
What to do
- Copy the cells.
- Right-click where you want them.
- Under Paste Options, click Values (the icon with 123).
Good to know
- Ctrl+Alt+V opens Paste Special, with more choices.
- The numbers stop updating after this.
The idea in general
You keep the answer and throw away the calculation behind it.

- You are using Excel on a computer. Menus can look a little different on a Mac or in a browser.
