Test many scenarios at once (Data Table)
What to do
- Put your formula in the top-left cell of a block.
- List input values down the column below it.
- Select the whole block.
- Go to Data, then What-If Analysis, then Data Table.
- Under Column input cell, pick the cell those values replace, and click OK.
Good to know
- Add values along the top row as well to test two inputs at once.
- This is a standard tool in finance models.
- The input cell must be on the same sheet as the table.
The idea in general
It reruns one calculation with many different inputs, so you can see what matters most.
What I assumed
- You are using Excel on a computer. Menus can look a little different on a Mac or in a browser.
