Show numbers as currency, percent or a date

What to do

1. Select the cells.
2. Press Ctrl+1.
3. On the Number tab, choose Currency, Percentage, Date or another type.
4. Click OK.

Good to know

• This changes how a value looks, not the value itself.
• The Home tab has quick buttons for $, % and decimal places.

The idea in general

The number stays the same underneath, and only its appearance changes.

What I assumed

• You are using Excel on a computer. Menus can look a little different on a Mac or in a browser.
