Find the average of some numbers
=AVERAGE(B2:B5)How it works in Excel
- AVERAGE adds the numbers and divides by how many there are.
- Blank cells are ignored, but cells holding 0 are counted.
- To average only some rows, use AVERAGEIF.

The average is what each item would be if the total were shared out equally.
