Find the highest or lowest number
=MAX(B2:B5)How it works in Excel
- MAX returns the largest number in the range.
- Swap MAX for MIN to get the smallest.
- Text and blank cells are ignored.
- For the highest in one category, use MAXIFS.
The idea in general
It scans the whole list and keeps the biggest one it sees.
