Clean up text
Count how many times a letter appears
=LEN(A2)-LEN(SUBSTITUTE(A2,"a",""))How it works in Excel
- SUBSTITUTE removes every "a".
- The drop in length is how many there were.
- SUBSTITUTE matches case exactly.
- To ignore case, use LOWER(A2) in both places.
The idea in general
Take them all out, and see how much shorter the text gets.
What I assumed
- The text is in A2.
Check the result on your own data before relying on it.
