Work out a percentage of a number

How it works in Excel

• A2 is the amount.
• B2 is the percentage, such as 15%.
• If you type 15 without the % sign, the answer will be 100 times too big.
• Excel stores 15% as 0.15.

The idea in general

Percent means "out of 100", so 15% of something is 0.15 times it.

What I assumed

• The amount is in A2 and the percentage is in B2.
