Clean up text
Turn numbers stored as text into real numbers
=VALUE(A2)How it works in Excel
- VALUE turns text that looks like a number into a real number.
- Text numbers usually sit on the left of the cell, and real ones on the right.
- A little green triangle in the corner often offers the same fix.
The idea in general
Excel cannot do math on a number written as words, so this changes it back.
What I assumed
- The number stored as text is in A2.
Check the result on your own data before relying on it.
