Work out a weighted average
=SUMPRODUCT(A2:A4,B2:B4)/SUM(B2:B4)How it works in Excel
- SUMPRODUCT multiplies each score by its weight and adds them.
- Dividing by SUM of the weights gives the average.
- The weights can be percentages or plain numbers.
- If the weights add up to 100%, you can skip the division.
The idea in general
Some items count for more than others, like a final exam counting more than a quiz.
What I assumed
- The scores are in A2:A4 and the weights are in B2:B4.
