Work with dates
Count full months or years between dates
=DATEDIF(A2,B2,"m")How it works in Excel
- A2 is the earlier date.
- B2 is the later date.
- "m" counts full months. Use "y" for full years.
- Excel does not suggest this function as you type, but it works.
- The earlier date must come first or you get #NUM!.
- For a current age, use TODAY() as the second date.
The idea in general
It counts only completed months or years, the way a birthday only counts once it has passed.
What I assumed
- The earlier date is in A2 and the later date is in B2.
Check the result on your own data before relying on it.
