Look things up
Find which bracket or tier a number falls in
=XLOOKUP(A2,$E$2:$E$5,$F$2:$F$5,"None",-1)How it works in Excel
- A2 is the number you are placing.
- E2:E5 holds the start of each tier.
- F2:F5 holds the tier names.
- -1 means take the next smaller match if there is no exact one.
- The $ signs let you copy it down.
- On older versions, use VLOOKUP with TRUE, and sort the tiers from low to high.
The idea in general
It works like a postage chart: find the highest band you have reached.
What I assumed
- The tier starts are in E2:E5 and the tier names are in F2:F5.
Check the result on your own data before relying on it.
