Fix an error
Fix a circular reference warning
What to do
- A circular reference means a formula uses its own cell.
- Go to Formulas, then Error Checking, then Circular References, to find the cell.
- Change the formula so it does not include its own cell.
Good to know
- A SUM placed inside the range it adds is the usual cause.
- Some finance models use this on purpose, with iterative calculation on.
The idea in general
It is like a dictionary defining a word using only that same word.
What I assumed
- You are using Excel on a computer. Menus can look a little different on a Mac or in a browser.
