Fix an error
Fix the #VALUE! error
What to do
- #VALUE! means the formula got the wrong kind of data, usually text where it needs a number.
- Check each cell the formula uses.
- Remove stray text or spaces, or convert the text with VALUE.
Good to know
- Dates stored as text are a common cause.
- A single space in a cell that looks empty is enough to trigger it.
- Using SUM instead of + ignores text.
The idea in general
It is like asking what apple plus 3 is.
What I assumed
- You are using Excel on a computer. Menus can look a little different on a Mac or in a browser.
