Fix an error
Fix the #SPILL! error
What to do
- #SPILL! means the results need room, but something is in the way.
- Click the cell to see a dashed outline of the space it needs.
- Clear whatever is inside that outline.
Good to know
- Even a space character in a cell can block it.
- Merged cells block it too.
- Formulas that spill will not work inside an Excel table.
The idea in general
The formula wants to pour into nearby cells, and one of them is taken.
What I assumed
- You are using Excel on a computer. Menus can look a little different on a Mac or in a browser.
