Fix an error
Fix the #NAME? error
What to do
- #NAME? means Excel does not recognize a word in the formula.
- Check the spelling of the function.
- Put quotation marks around any text.
- Check any named ranges still exist.
Good to know
- A newer function on an older Excel gives this too, such as XLOOKUP on Excel 2016.
- Choosing a function from the list as you type avoids spelling mistakes.
The idea in general
Excel is saying "I do not know that word."
What I assumed
- You are using Excel on a computer. Menus can look a little different on a Mac or in a browser.
