Fix a formula that shows as text
What to do
- Check if the formula starts with =, with no space or apostrophe before it.
- Change the cell format from Text to General using Ctrl+1.
- Click in the formula bar and press Enter.
Good to know
- If every cell shows its formula, Show Formulas is on. Press Ctrl+` to turn it off.
The idea in general
Excel thinks you typed words, so it is showing them back to you.

- You are using Excel on a computer. Menus can look a little different on a Mac or in a browser.
