Check if a date falls on a weekend
=IF(WEEKDAY(A2,2)>5,"Weekend","Weekday")How it works in Excel
- WEEKDAY(A2,2) numbers Monday as 1 and Sunday as 7.
- Above 5 means Saturday or Sunday.
- Without the 2, Sunday counts as day 1, which changes the test.
The idea in general
Each date has a place in the week, and the last two places are the weekend.

- The date is in A2.
